Library Cards

• Parents and guardians may acquire library cards for their children and teens who are under eighteen years of age.
• Please make sure to have a photo identification (such as a driver's license or state ID) with a current address. If you have recently changed addresses, a piece of mail address to you at your new address, or a copy of a lease or deed can serve to verify your new address.
• If you misplace your library card, we will be happy to replace it for a $3 donation. Once you get your replacement card, your old card will be inactive.

J. Lewis Crozer Library Code of Conduct

The following are prohibited at the library:

• Consumption of food (includes chewing gum) or drink in public areas of the library*
• Smoking
• Loitering, i.e., sitting or standing idly about, gambling, card playing or games on library premises*
• Weapons of any kind (on library premises) with the exception of authorized personnel
• Use of cell phones inside the library. Cell phones must be turned off or on silent/vibrate.
• Disruptive conduct. Includes but not limited to:
• Abusive language or cursing
• Physical violence or threat of violence
• Shouting and screaming, etc.
• Vandalizing library property or facilities
• Bullying, fighting, roughhousing or bothering other patron
• Excessive noise, i.e., loud talking, shouting
• Playing of electronic or battery-operated devices (radios, tape recorders,cassettes, CD players, etc.) without the use of earphones set for the listener only.
• Use of library facilities for bathing or washing of clothes or hair.
• Personal hygiene so offensive as to constitute a nuisance to others.
• Animals other than those assisting disabled persons.
• Theft, mutilation, or damage to either library materials, library property or personal property of others.
• Distribution of materials to either staff or library users without prior approval of library staff.
• Soliciting of money or other favors.
• Bare feet or shirtless.

*Exceptions are allowed as designated for a specific library program.

J. Lewis Crozer Library Restrictions

You will be asked to leave immediately for the following easons:

• Fighting (real or play)
• Intentionally damaging items or property, belonging to the library or patrons.
• Failure to comply with computer usage rules.

One warning rules:

• NO eating, chewing gum, or drinking.
• NO radios, CD players, walkmans or portable games (unless used with earphones)
• NO cell phones or pagers. They must be off or on silent/vibrate. (If on silent/vibrate, calls must be answered outside of the library)
• NO running, boisterous behavior or foul language.
• NO gathering or hanging out.
• Parents/Guardians or responsible designates, MUST monitor their children's behavior at all times.
• Bicycles, scooters, or skateboards cannot be brought into the library or left in the atrium or public walkways (for patron safety, a bicycle rack is located along the walkway to the library)
• Basketballs must be left at the circulation desk.
• Roller skates/blades are not allowed in the library.

Additional rules:

• Seating is on a first come-first serve basis. However, patrons requiring space for study and research will be given priority.
• Library phones can only be used in the event of a real emergency.
• Children aged six and under must be accompanied by parent/guardian or responsible designate (staff will make all attempts to contact parent/guardian, if none available, the authorities may be called)
• Failure to follow the library's Code of Conduct, may result in the need to call the authorities.

Computer Use

Crozer Library has five computers with Internet access. The library also has one computer with wordprocessing, spreadsheet, desktop publishing, and presentation software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint 2000).

• Children and teens under the age of eighteen may use the computer for a one-half hour period.
• Children age twelve and under may use the Internet computers when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
• Crozer Library patrons are guaranteed one hour of uninterrupted Internet or word processor computer access each day. After this period of time, you may be asked to leave the computer if others are waiting to use it.
